Engineering Director

Management and Supervision: The Director will provide leadership and supervision to the Engineering Department, evaluate the performance of employees on a regular basis, and recommend training and course work to maximize position objectives
FKEC Staff Member: The Director will participate in the development of Cooperative policies and procedures and make recommendations for changes and additions. The Director will ensure proper and consistent application of organizational policy for the Engineering Department
System Plans and Studies: The Director will coordinate with the COO and staff regarding the development of long-range and short-term plans.
Technical Responsibilities:
Directs engineering studies of the electric distribution facilities.
Assists in the engineering studies of the transmission and substation facilities.
Directs the preparation and approval of project cost estimates and schedules for distribution construction projects.
Directs the development of new concepts and technology for application to distribution systems.
Directs the initiation, evaluation, and administration of engineering contracts related to distribution systems.
Assists in the development, approval process, and maintenance of engineering, design, construction, equipment, and material specifications and standards.
Assists the qualification of prospective supplier's equipment, materials, technical competence, and production capabilities.
Directs the interpretation and application of various regulations, codes, and standards pertaining to distribution systems.
Annual Budgets and Five Year Plans: The Director will review department needs for capital purchases and expense adjustments, including personnel, training and seminars, transportation, office and field equipment, and furniture. The Director will plan capital projects in advance of the budget year with the Distribution, Transmission and Generation departments, and assist with budget development for each project. The Director will monitor department expenditures to ensure compliance with the budget and to refine and improve the accuracy of the following year's budget.
Communications Coordination: The Director will facilitate the coordination of interdepartmental communications. The Director will be the model for the department and ensure that all communications associated with internal and external customer service are provided in a timely and professional manner.
Professional Ethics: The Director will model and encourage the use of company values as outlined in FKEC's Mission Statement.
Continuing Education: The Director will stay current on industry trends and new development through conferences, seminars, reading trade magazines, professional journals, research papers and participation through industry recognized organizations.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required. A Florida Professional Engineering license or the commitment of earning a Registered Professional Engineer license within two years is required.
Experience: A minimum of ten years working experience in an electric utility is desired.
Abilities and Skills: The Director must possess the necessary skills to communicate successfully with both professionals and non-professionals. This position is critical to FKEC's internal succession plan by providing effective leadership and by offering guidance, direction, and growth opportunity to employees. The Director must have a valid Florida driver's license.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
